![]() The Magic Mouse 1 was discontinued in 2015. The nice thing is that they are readily available and you can easily find one from many different outlets. The Magic Mouse 2 is the newer version, so it will cost you a little more, just as the latest version of anything will usually cost more. If it costs too much, you may not be able to afford it, and if it is not readily available anywhere, you will have difficulty finding it. Ok, this is a factor that will matter to many, but it does not affect the performance or even the style. It may seem negligible to most of us, but it is one of the only other differences I could come up with. The Magic Mouse 1 is 3.7 ounces, and the Magic Mouse 2 weighs in at a slightly lighter number of 3.49 ounces. It’s doubtful that you will notice 0.21 ounces, but there is a very slight weight difference. The original Magic Mouse 1 comes only in the Silver color, while the Magic Mouse 2 is available in Silver and Space Grey. This isn’t really a factor that would change my mind, but if you are looking to match the color of your MacBook, it might be something to consider. For me, they are not enough of a factor to sway my decision one way or the other, but I will list them here. The battery was the only significant change between versions, but there are two minor things that I have found. I will get to what they are below, but for the most part, the functionality, the feel, the connection type, and everything else about how the device works is the same. Other DifferencesĪpart from the battery types, the two devices have a few other differences. With the Magic Mouse 2, it can depend on the age of your device since the battery will eventually wear down. This will depend on usage, and with the Magic Mouse 1, it will also depend on the type of AA batteries you use. Despite the difference in battery types, both versions of the Magic Mouse can last about one month on fresh batteries or a full charge.
